More Mason Jars

I think that I am getting a little too excited about mason jars. I love the colors through the glass.

Vintage Mason Jars

Glass is really fun to paint. You start painting what you see, and it looks like nothing for a long time.  Then when you add some highlights, poof-a glass jar! Kind of exciting, in a nerdy way.

An Earful

This little bird is giving the piggy an earful. It looks loud, right? My daughter Anna painted the ceramic piggy bank. My husband brought the bird whistle back from a trip to Romania. You fill the whistle with some water and it makes a warbley sound when you blow in it. Oil on 8"x10" gallery wrapped canvas. Click here to buy.

Irish Cottage

No, I have never been to Ireland. Sigh. Years ago I found a coffee table book about Ireland at a rummage sale. The photo of a thatched roof cottage on the cover captured my attention.  I used it as a reference for this painting.  One day I hope to travel to Ireland and come home with lots of reference photos of my own. Sigh.

A More Colorful Owl

This guy started life as a very realistic owl. He belongs to the Birmingham Zoo and I took several good photos of him for reference.  I spent a whole morning painting him and just couldn't make it work. He got wiped off completely, twice.  Then he emerged as this bright, colorful guy, and we were both happy. Oil on 8"x10" canvas.  Click here to buy.

Samson and Crash

Samson and Crash: sounds like a great name for a crime fighting duo, but they are two pet portrait comissions. The photos of these two were oozing with personality, so they were great fun to paint.  Oil on 8"x8" canvas.
